One Chance, One Moment
Judith Kohnen
A nurse trying to escape her past and secure her future as the adopted mother of a young boy she loves takes a well-paying job caring for a famous singer/songwriter after a car wreck nearly killed him. He refuses help, and she refuses to give up - until her perseverance rehabilitates his body, his career, and their abilities to love again.
Renowned singer/musician Garry Danzlo has decided to live a life of seclusion after a debilitating accident destroys his musical career. Guilt-ridden and stubborn, he wants no part of the holistic nurse his sister has hired to rehabilitate him. He's determined to get rid of her; she's determined to stay. Spunky, fun-loving Amanda Fields, widowed after a loveless marriage, is on a mission for love. More than anything in the world, she wants to adopt an eight-year-old, wheelchair-bound boy named
Robbie. When her chance arrives that will provide her with sufficient funds for the adoption, there's nothing to stop her from accomplishing the temporary job in Colorado. But what she has to contend with is far more than just a difficult patient. Unexpected obstacles are suddenly out of her control. The least of her worries is falling for yet another man who doesn't love her back.
Intriguing, fun and hope-filled, the novel explores the various facets of the heart and how we observe them in life. It shows how love can go far deeper than skin, and it shares the importance of forgiveness to find true peace within.

I actually started reading this a few books after I read Return to Me by Kelly Moran, and the plot was somewhat similar. They both involved the main guy character being bedridden (and essentially depressed) and the main girl character having to be their nurse, but they were both so different in many ways and so good!
This book is filled with many plot twists and is essentially suspenseful. It makes you want to keep turning the pages because not only is it so sweet and intriguing to watch Mandy and Garry's relationship develop, but there are many storms brewing that you want to closely observe as well...
Mandy and Garry were SO cute. I really feel like the story is mainly Garry's, though. I say this because Kohnen did an awesome job in developing Garry's character. He's somewhat arrogant and like your stereotypical celebrity, but after his incident he becomes reserved and he is... essentially childish. Mandy comes into the picture as the rock, the one who is there to make Garry realize things and help him find himself. After reading the book, you definitely see several changes in Garry. He is sooo sweet...
Kohnen also balances the good with the bad. There are definitely characters that are "evil", and you can't help but hate them with a passion. Kohnen's play of words throughout the book makes you have strong urges to jump into the world of the book, set things straight, and give some characters a piece of your mind. The reader is pretty engaged with the story, in my opinion.
Overall, I loved this book. There were moments where I wanted to cry and/or yell at someone, and there were moments where I laughed and was filled with plenty of warmth and love. There was a balance of elements in the story and they were powerful. They had an impact on my emotions, thoughts, and overall reading experience. I'm not exactly why, but this book really did it for me. It has been a while since I adored a book this much.
Kohnen's words were, in a sense, poetic and I felt so "divine" while reading. It made me want to sit up straight and talk all proper and fancy, haha!
I TRULY enjoyed this book and I STILL can't get over it (it has been about 5 days)! I definitely recommend this book, and I canNOT wait for book 2!
My Rating:
1/5 I didn't like it
2/5 It was okay
3/5 I liked it
4/5 I really liked it
5/5 It was amazing
